Listed on the National Historic Register, Petersburg Began in 1814

Established over 200 years ago, the historic town of Petersburg was founded in 1814 and incorporated in 1837. The town lies partly within Lincoln County and partly within Marshall County and had a population of 528 in the 2020 Census.

State Route 130 and 129 intersect right off the square that connects the town to Shelbyville, while U.S. Route 431 crosses the western part of Petersburg and connects the town with Fayetteville and Lewisburg.
